“Once Daily” is a freeware Control Panel that allows you to automatically launch documents on the FIRST start up of the day ONLY. This utility is intended for users, especially programmers, who often restart their mac several times during the day, but only want to launch their startup documents once.
•System Requirements: System 7.
•To install “Once Daily”:
Drag “Once Daily” onto your system folder. It will be placed with your other control panels.
•How to use “Once Daily”:
Append the word “daily” to the end of the names of the files that you want to open only once per day, and put them in the “Startup Items” folder in your system folder.
•How it works (Supplemental reading):
At system startup, “Once Daily” looks for files ending with the word “daily” in both the “Startup Items” folder and the “Daily Folder” (which “Once Daily” creates), both of which are in your system folder.
If it is the first startup of the day, “Once Daily” moves the daily files to the Startup Items folder, where the Finder will launch them; otherwise it moves them to the “Daily Folder”, so the Finder won’t launch them. A “1” or “2+” in the upper right hand of the startup icon indicates whether this is the first or later startup of the day.
The time that the day officially starts can be changed in the “Once Daily” control panel, for all you late hour mac users.
•Distribution:
“Once Daily” is freeware. It can be distributed without restriction. If you like it or have other comments, I would like to hear from you.
